JEE Main 2026: Maximize Your Best Score
NTA considers the best score among all attempts for JEE Main ranking. If you appeared in Session 1, here is how to strategically approach Session 2 for maximum score improvement.
NTA Best Score Policy
As per NTA guidelines, candidates who appear in both sessions will have their best NTA score considered for the final merit list. This means there is no penalty for a lower score in any session – only the higher score counts.
Score Improvement Strategy
Physics (30 Questions)
- Focus on Electrostatics, Current Electricity, and Modern Physics – these carry 30-35% weightage
- Practice numerical-type questions as they differentiate toppers
- Revise rotational mechanics and wave optics formulas
Chemistry (30 Questions)
- Inorganic Chemistry is the easiest scoring area – memorize NCERT tables and exceptions
- Physical Chemistry numericals: Electrochemistry, Chemical Kinetics, Thermodynamics
- Organic Chemistry: Named reactions and mechanism-based questions
Mathematics (30 Questions)
- Coordinate Geometry and Calculus together contribute 40-45% questions
- Practice 3D Geometry and Vector Algebra – often easier questions
- Probability and Statistics: Usually 2-3 straightforward questions
Time Management Tips
Allocate: Physics 50 min, Chemistry 45 min, Mathematics 65 min, and keep 20 min for review. Attempt all easy questions first across all subjects before tackling difficult ones.
